Key Design Considerations

Set in the heart of Hanwell, the new Boston Road scheme provides a central village square surrounded by shops which encourage independent traders, units for small and medium sized businesses and a café at street level designed to animate the square.

A landscaped shared surface space provides a central feature connecting the new residential buildings, each with their own landscaped terraces at the upper levels and two courtyards for residents.

The buildings step back from Boston Road with pitched roofs punctuating the roofscape tying into the surrounding context. The architectural language is a contemporary response to the surrounding brick Victorian terraces with a variety of protruding and recessed balconies providing private amenity space for residents.
